The Lawns Restaurant
3a Lower Kololo Terrace Rd, Kampala, Uganda
About The Lawns Restaurant
Tucked away along Lower Kololo Terrace, The Lawns Restaurant offers an easy escape from the usual city noise with its chill, cozy atmosphere and lovely views overlooking the greenery. It is the kind of spot where you can settle into a leisurely lunch, sip on fresh, energizing juices, and sample inventive starters like beet balls and stuffed naan paired with a spicy housemade red chutney.
The real draw here, though, is the chance to dine on the wild side. If you are curious about game meat, you can order a mixed platter or a Serengeti selection featuring cuts like cape buffalo, hartebeest, waterbuck, and Uganda kob, served alongside rich sauces and proper condiments. Beyond the everyday continental menu, Sundays bring out a lively crowd for the Jungle Feast buffet, complete with live barbecue and a band playing into the afternoon. Whether you are dropping by for a quiet weekday dinner or gathering with friends to share a table over weekend grills, it is a distinctly Kampala experience worth taking your time with.

I visited The Lawns Restaurant with two friends specifically to try their game meat selection. While they had unfortunately run out of crocodile, there was still a great choice, including buffalo and several types of antelope. I opted for the mixed grill platter (four selections) and requested it medium rare. Everything came out perfectly cooked and very flavorful. The meat was excellent, and the condiments complemented it nicely. Service was also a highlight: our server Sunday was attentive and professional throughout the evening. The setting, right next to a golf course, creates a calm and pleasant atmosphere. I would definitely come back.

I had always wanted to go to the lawns restruant, because of their famous wild game meat. So tuesday was the day. I loved the ambious, the environment was chill and cozy, beautiful sights of the golf park and the sky and amazing customer care. The food was a dissapointment. The african tea was warm instead of hot, it tasted like royco mixed with blackpaper.. The meat had been microwaved ( not fresh at all) and so different parts were of varrying temperature and barely warm enough.. What saved the day was the ketchup, greens... and wifi.. I will surely go back, but not for the food..

This place was recommended, I had to try the Serengeti Plains which allowed you 4 choices of wild game. I had the cape buffalo, Hartebeest, Waterbuck, Uganda Kob. I wanted the crocodile but they didn't have it available. Regardless the good was great.

Absolutely delicious lunch at a beautiful restaurant! The service was also wonderful! The juices were so fresh and energizing! For apps, we ordered potato cheese balls, beet balls and stuffed naan - so tasty especially with the housemade chutneys! The red chutney had a great spice kick! The beet balls were innovative! For mains, we had the falafel wrap and peri peri chicken wings. The chicken had such a good flavor and was tender and juicy it just slid off the bone! Dessert at the end was such a lovely treat! The hot chocolate brownie with ice cream was the perfect end to a perfect meal! Would love to come back again! An unforgettable meal!
