About Izumi
Perched up on Upper Kololo Terrace, Izumi offers a polished escape from the city rush. It is the kind of spot where you can easily settle in for an unhurried dinner or drinks with friends, especially when the weekend rolls around.
The menu leans into contemporary Pan-Asian flavors, featuring everything from beautifully arranged sushi platters and avocado salmon rolls to hearty new plates like Korean glazed pork ribs and prawn toast. If you drop by on a Thursday evening, you can catch the live Teppanyaki grill experience right at the table, while Musical Fridays bring in the Afro Soul Band to help wind down the week. Between the cozy seating up front and the steady rhythm of the lounge, it remains a reliable neighborhood choice for a solid meal and a chilled evening out in Kampala.

I had a lovely evening at this place. The ambiance was good, though a bit noisy at times. While the food didn’t quite live up to the high expectations, the overall experience was pleasant. Our waiter was very professional, attentive, and helpful, which made a big difference. I would definitely visit again.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Izumi Restaurant & Lounge is an absolute gem! From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance struck me — sophisticated lighting, modern décor, and a relaxing vibe that’s perfect whether you’re there for dinner or just drinks. The service was superb. Our server (credit to *Marie* / *David* / *Josephine*) was attentive without being overbearing, helping us choose from the menu and keeping everything running smoothly. The food was outstanding — every dish was beautifully presented, packed with flavor, and clearly crafted with care. The fusion of local and international flavors was well balanced, and each bite was a delight. The cocktails were also top-notch — creative, refreshing, and served precisely. Izumi creates a truly elevated dining experience. Whether you want a romantic evening, a classy night out with friends, or just exceptional food and drinks, this is the place to go. I can’t wait to return.

The waiter doesn’t know about the food on menu and is lack of training ! I came with a child, order the sushi and told waiter not to put spicy sauce because all the food is sharing with baby He came to tell me my mock dock is out of stock so I changed to spring roll He didn’t tell me it’s spicy And I gave to child once it’s served One of the manager came and ask if I want replacement , I said yes But this waiter came to me told me the spring roll is too many PCs I can’t replace ??!!! Why one restaurant have two answer to client ? Why this waiter doesn’t have knowledge of informing client the food is spicy when client specifically told him the food doesn’t want it spiced ? Good mood is complete ruined by this waiter service Add another noodle and it’s extremely salty I ask a hot water so I can remove sauce Waiter serve the HOT water from child side (!!!???????)

A great spot in Kampala, unexpected! Both the sushi and the cooked food is good. We enjoyed a variety of rolls, my favorite was the avocado salmon. The tempura was tasty too! The atmosphere and service is nice. If you make a reservation, while the place is very open for lunch, you can sit in the nice cozy chairs up front.

Ordered a take out, extremely disappointed. Sushi rice was overcooked and so heavy! Taste and flavor is zero, nowhere on the menu was a mention of crab sticks and prawns yet the California rolls had prawns which I’m allergic to. California rolls are supposed to have salmon. The salmon maki was tasteless, the burnt salmon had crab sticks, again, no mention on the menu. Don’t understand the hype behind this restaurant when they cannot get simple orders right. I had to order more food from another restaurant as nothing was edible.
