About The Coterie Book Cafe
Tucked away along Bandali Rise, The Coterie Book Cafe strikes a rare balance in Kampala, functioning equally well as a peaceful daytime workspace and a lively social hub. During the week, you will often find people settling in with a novel from the mini library, digging into plates of pesto fish, or working in a quiet atmosphere where conversation actually flows without having to shout over background tracks. The lighting and decor create an inviting backdrop, complemented by attentive, easygoing service that immediately makes you feel at home.
As the week rolls on, the energy shifts to match the neighbourhood. Thursdays bring out the competitive crowd for the evening Quiz League hosted by Romeo Banye, while Fridays lean into energetic karaoke nights. It is also common to see a group of runners gathering out front on Saturday mornings for the Bugolobi social run, or local book clubs meeting for in-depth discussions. Whether you are after a solid coffee and a quiet corner to read or a lively table of drinks with friends, it is a welcoming spot on the hill worth checking out.

Loved my first visit to the book cafe. Easy to get to location. It's a cute little cafe and we had the option of ordering our food before arrival. The food was delicious and so was the whiskey sour pitcher. Bonus is there's no music playing so this makes a good work environment and if you're looking for a place to just have a conversation, this is it.

Very lovely place to visit. The service was really good and the food was amazing. (Shout out to Simon - I think that was his name). I had pesto fish and it was so worth it. They also have books and games which was different from other places. The atmosphere is amazing and good for reading, working and a lot more. The lighting and decor was spot on. Had so many people asking me about the place when I posted a couple of photos. Would definitely go back!!

Okay, so the coterie book 📖 Cafe is the only place I've rated five stars so far. The first thing that really struck me asides from how pretty the lights looked was the service. I don't know how to explain it, but the waiter was really really chill, and smiling, he even offered us this thing where we could put our bags (gotta actually find out what they call these) instead of hanging them on the edge of the chairs. Besides that the coffee ☕ was really good, came with a nice ginger cookie 🍪 And the veggie spring rolls 🫔 were absolutely dynamite!! Loved the toilets too, super clean, the book cover collage and the picture frames on the doors were a really cool bit. Tbh, it is a really cool place to visit. It was raining when I came and I have to tell you, the lights 💡shining on the brown furniture 🤌🏾 and the green plants🪴 around, it was really cool

They didn't have any teas, coffees or cocktails when I came, but the food was great. The interior was pleasant, and service was very nice. Prices are high, though.

Nice place to get some work done, have a nice lunch/dinner, meet up with friends...Cocktails are great and food is delicious. I recommend the tilapia&bacon. This place also allows.you to purchase books at a great rate.
